Trip Overview

The Shivapuri National Park, 14 km north of Kathmandu main city, Shivapuri can be reached two ways, either from Sundarijal or Budanilkantha. The park is managed by the Nepalese Army and  Some of the birds in this area are the Laughing Thrush, Crested Serpent Eagle, Little Pied Fly Catchers, Ruby - Throats, and Babblers. At Nagarjun at 2105 meters pheasants, magpies, sunbirds and ruby-throats are found. After 2003, it turns into National Park, the newest & smallest National Park in the country from Shivapuri Watershed Reserve, a small the water source of the city.

Outline Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Drive from Kathmandu (1,350 m) to Sudarijal (1,450 m), then trek to Chisapani means Cold Water (2,150 m).

  • Day 2

    Walk into the Park with Naturalist Guide & overnight at Chisapani.

  • Day 3

    Trek deep into the forest then, overnight in Chauki Bhanjyang (1,950 m).

  • Day 4

    Trek to Nagarkot (2,200 m), overnight at Nagarkot (City Fort) .

  • Day 5

    Trek to Changunarayan Temple (1,450 m), then drive to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur.
