Trip Overview

Ghorepani Pun Hill is a short trek close from Pokhara which gives you an opportunity to see some of the greatest view of the Himalayan Mountains. This is the very easy & short trekking destination in the Annapurna region. Probably, the best view of the mountains in the world from Pun Hill, the vantage view point from where you could see more than 20 snow-capped mountains in a semi- circle. The Pun hill, the view point of this trek is very popular for its Sunrise & Sunset view on big mountains. Ghorepani treks passes through the cultural Gurung, Magar and Thakali villages along with the dense forest of the bamboos, rhododendrons, firs and oaks in the territory of the ACAP (ANNAPURNA CONSERVATION AREAS PROJECT).  The focus point of this trek is Pun Hill, one of the greatest view point in Annapurna Region from where 50 km long Annapurna, Nilgiris and Dhaulagiri chain can be viewed, the trek starts from Nayapul an hour drive from Pokhara. This trek goes to via Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, Ghandruk, Landruk, Pothana & Dhampus villages & makes a small loop in the region. The people, their life style, their culture & tradition, the terraced fields, mountains view, the river & the valleys makes the trek so worth to visit. One could do this short trek in all year round!

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrived in Kathmandu airport, hotel transfer

    Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport (TIA), our airport representative pick up you & transfer to the hotel in Kathmandu, free day to look around the city.
  • Day 2

    Drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu by tourist bus/ coach

    After having breakfast at hotel, our trek leader/guide picks up you from your hotel to tourist Bus Station. Then, you will take Tourist Bus /Coach to Pokhara which is 7 hrs driving, including breakfast & lunch break en route. Finally about 2:30-3:00 pm, you will be in Pokhara, a most beautiful Lake city of Nepal. You will walk around the Lake side, in the evening.
  • Day 3

    Trek from Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (915 m- 1,577 m/ 4:30 hrs)

    First one hour by car to Nayapul (1,050 m) from Pokhara to reach trekking starting point, then to Tikhedhunga (1,577 m) via Birethanti (1,065 m) which takes 4:30 hours walk in total with small breaks. We depart after breakfast in Pokhara around 8:30hrs, the first part of the trek is very easy passing through numerous tiny villages and settlement, afterwards the trail ascend gently to the final destination of the day. The majority of people here are Gurung and they follows both Hindu and Buddhist religions, they are engaged in agriculture, tourism and some are employed in Gurkha regiments in the UK & in India.
  • Day 4

    Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (1,577 m- 2,875 m/6-7 hrs)

    The trail from Tikhedhunga goes step up for 2 hours until a Magar village of Ulleri (2,070 m), afterwards the ascend becomes more gentle through the forest of rhododendron ,Oaks and shadowy, on the way we get to see Mt Machapuchhre (the fishtail 6,997 m), Huinchuli (6,441 m) and south summit of Annapurna South (7,219 m), possibility to see wild animals and various species of birds on this walk.
  • Day 5

    Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,875 m- 3,210 m (Poon/Pun Hill, view point 675 m/ 7 hrs)

    On this day, you have choice (highly recommended) to go up to pun Hill, renewed for it’s great panoramic Himalayan view, it will be extra 2 h walk early morning to see the Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) & Annapurna I (8,091 m) mountain ranges at one time, other mountain we see from poon hill are Tukuche Peak (6920 m), Nilgiri (6,940 m), Varaha Shikhar (7,847 m), Mt. Annapurna South (7,219 m), Annapurna III (7,755 m), Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Annapurna IV (7,525 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), Lamjung Himal (6,931 m) and other numerous snow-capped mountain peaks. After doing POoon Hill, we depart for Tadapani, the trail goes as high as poon hill at Gurung hill (3,150 m) after 1 hr from Ghorepani, then the trail goes steeply down through dense forest all the day, the forest are mainly rhododendrons, bamboos and oaks, we also see waterfalls, rock walled, wild animals, birds on this beautiful walk.
  • Day 6

    Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (2,675 m- 1,950 m/4 hrs)

    This is an easy day descending gently through Rhododendron, Oaks, firs and other kinds of dense forests. We could hear different kinds of birds chirping noise/sounds on the way. This is one of the popular destinations for the birds' lovers/ Bird Watcher. Ghandruk is a big Gurung village. There is a handicraft center and Gurung museum. From this village, we will see Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna (7,455 m), Annapurna III (7,755 m) and Fishtail Mountain in a close range. It is very good place to relax after lunch!
  • Day 7

    Trek from Ghandruk to Pothana (1,950 m -1,900 m/5 hrs)

    We starts with step down to the Modi Khola (1,350 m) valley from Ghandruk, it takes 2 hours approximately to descend nearly 600 m, we do this descend through the agriculture terrace field on the stone paved trail. As soon as we reach at Modi Khola river valley, we ascend to Landruk village (1,640 m), a pretty another big village inhabited by mixed communities of Gurung, Magar and Brahmin as well, from now the trail gently ascends to Tolka (1,850 m) and then ascend and level path to Bherikharka (1,900 m). Now we do the final ascend of the day, the trail goes steeply up to Deurali (2,100 m) with a view of different mountain peaks in panorama. Now, the trail gradually descends to Pothana passing through different oaks forests. Pothana is a small town resided by Gurung, an ethnic community of Nepal. From here, we can enjoy the splendid views of various mountain peaks.
  • Day 8

    Trek from Pothana to Dhampus phedi - Pokhara (1,900 m- 915 m/ 4 hrs)

    On this day, we descend from Pothana via Dhampus (1,600 m), a village mainly inhabited by Gurung, beyond Dhampus we trek through flat land for some distance and steeply descend to Dhampus Phedi (1,000 m). From here, take half an hour car taxi drive to Pokhara, overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 9

    Drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara by tourist bus/coach which takes about 7 hrs including breakfast & lunch breaks. Rest of the day is free.

  • Day 10

    Note: You could do your City tour on 2nd day instead of 10th day! Also, If you like/wish a flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu which takes only 25 minutes & having private Vehicle either one way or both way takes 5 hrs only each way for 200 km road = by charging extra cost/price also organized!
