Trip Overview
The Langtang valley trekking adventure will bring you into the Langtang valley.It is the third popular trekking region, after Annapurna & Everest regions surrounded by Himalayan Peaks. The Langtang valley is simply called ‘the valley of glaciers’ and in this valley the mountains rise, soaring toward the sky. The bio-diversity of the valley features pine forests, bamboo forest, Oaks & Rhododendron, swift mountain streams, rugged rocks, snow-capped peaks, grassy land and meadows strewn with daisies and wild primal. Along the way, we encounter a variety of cultural sites including Buddhist monasteries, a cheese factory, yaks herds Yaks Huts, glaciers and mountain Lakes. This trek offers the experience of being in a typical Tamang village and exploring many ancient monasteries. The natural diversity and cultural sites make this trek an exciting one with memories that will last a lifetime. Langtang Lirung-7,240 m and Ganesh Himal 1 -5 peaks, over 7,000 m are the highest in the region. On this adventure, we will also trek up to Kyangjin Gompa and enjoy an excursion to Tsergo Ri(4,984 m) to acclimatize for our further trek to Ganja-La pass (5,135 m). We then head south into the valley of Helambuvia the Ganja -La pass which offers more excitement and challenges in the Himalayas.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350 m)
Upon arrival in Kathmandu airport, our airport representative will meet you at the airport then transfer to centrally located 3-star hotel in Kathmandu. Evening is free to explore the city. -
Day 2
Sightseeing in Kathmandu.
After breakfast our professional tour guide accompanies you on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley, on this tour you will visit most of the major UNESCO heritage sites incluidng Swayambhunath, Hanumandhoka Palace, Pashupatinath Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa all of which are located less than 6 km from one another. -
Day 3
Drive Kathmandu to Syabru Besi (1,470 m /9 hrs).
We head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubesi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River, we catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, Tibetan mountains, Green valleys, terraces and green hills. -
Day 4
Trek Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel (2,440 m /5-6 hrs).
The first part of the trail, crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola (Small River), which is the biggest glacier river in Nepal! This trail is a gradually ascend up to Bamboo passing through Landslide. Afterwards, you trek ascends gently to Rimche (2,500 m) from Bamboo (1,960 m) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. You can have lunch at this place if you like and the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route, you could see Red Pandas, Monkey and Bears, if you are lucky! -
Day 5
Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,430 m / 6-7 hrs).
As you continue climbing, there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung through the trees. At Ghode Tabela (3,000 m), the trail emerges from the forest. Once there was a Tibetan refuge settlement project here for a short Terms & later on, provide them another better place for them, but now it is a Nepalese Army Post though, it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery, which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the Headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighboring villages are of the flat-roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley. -
Day 6
Trek Langtang village to Kyangjin (3,870 m / 3 hrs).
The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens up further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Here is a small monastery and a Government-Operated cheese Factory. We should arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. It is a dramatic setting, with snow-covered peaks surrounding you in all directions such as Langtang Lirung, Ganja -La peak, Tserko Ri, Langsisa Ri and many others. -
Day 7
Excursion around Kyangjin Gumpa/Gumba/Monastery.
This is a day to rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4,350 m), directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks & others snowcapped mountains in 360 degree. -
Day 8
Trek and climb up to Tserko Ri (4,984 m/ 7-8 hrs).
Today, we trek up a steep ascend all the way to the top. During the trek today, you can see Himalayan pheasants, Himalayan deer and outstanding views of surrounding peaks and mountains. From Tserko Ri, you will be captivated by the panoramic views of Sishapangma, Langshisa Ri, Naya Kang, Yala Peak and Langtang Lirung. -
Day 9
Trek Kyangjin Gompa to Ngegang (4,000 m) /High Camp (4,650 m)/ 4 hrs - 6 hrs).
Today, we enter into the wilderness, and we are no longer able to see any villages. The trail continues ascending and the area are covered only with alpine vegetation. Since there are not available any lodge, we camp from here on. -
Day 10
Trek from Ngegang / High Camp to Keldang (4,600 m) via Ganja- La (5,100 m) pass / 8 hrs / 6 hrs).
Today is comparatively strenuous as we cross the Ganja- La Pass. As we cross the pass, we will find it covered with snow and ice most of the times of the year. We will camp again in the evening. -
Day 11
Trek Keldang to Dukpu (4,080 m /7 hrs).
Today will be a long day, walking along the ridge, with grassland and amazing views of the surrounding mountains. There are numerous small passes to cross even after the main Ganja -La so the trek remains exciting and energetic. Our camp site will be inside the forest. -
Day 12
Trek Dukpu to Tarkeghyang (2,740 m /5 hrs).
Today, the trail descends through pine forest, rhododendron forest and past a small herder’s settlement to Tarkeghyang. You can visit one of the oldest Buddhist monastery and Sherpa villages. These villages are well settled where friendly and cheerful people inhabit. The scenery is spectacular with both the green valley view till the snow capped Himalaya can be seen on this portion of the trek. -
Day 13
Trek from Tarkeghang to Shermathang (2,590 m / 4 hrs).
This village has a lot to offer, we visit a Sherpa family and learn their culture and traditions and occasionally there is a Puja / worship ceremony in the monasteries, we may participate in. Today is a pleasant walk through the last part of the Langtang National Park, and we pass by small inhabitants of the farm. The people and their terraced, way down the view of Melamchi valley with rice field is spectacular. Shermathang is another Sherpa village with a monastery to visit. -
Day 14
Shermathang to Melamchipul Bazaar (870 m /5 hrs).
After a long descent through the mixed cultural village of mid-hill people inhabitant, we are now back to the modernized place compared to the last weeks in the wilderness. The Melamchi Bazaar has a road connection to Kathmandu, the town is large and along the riverbed of Indrawati & Melamchi rivers together & called Indrawati river. -
Day 15
Drive to Kathmandu from Melamchipul Bazaar (4-5 hrs).
Today, we drive to Kathmandu which takes 5 hrs, at first the road runs by the Indrawati river at Limidanda you join the Kathmandu-Lhasa Road ,the friendship highway, you pass by Dhulikhel, Banepa and Bhaktapur en route. -
Day 16
Airport Transfer
Our Airport representative will transfer you to the Airport for your onward destination.
