Trip Overview

Upper Dolpa Trek is an ancient Tibetan kingdom located in the north -west of Nepal. Dolpa region was an isolated & closed for the foreigner due to the border with Tibet. The Tibetan freedom fighter or the Khampas who were supported by the American International Aid Agency & Western countries by providing modern weapons, used to hide in the region.  After these Khampas surrendered & handover all the weapons to Nepalese Army, then the area was open for the foreigners. It was only opened to trekkers in 1990 A.D. The Himalayan range can be seen in all its splendor and Phoksundo Lake with the Ringmo village provide some of the most beautiful Nepalese scenery. We follow the ancient Tibetan salt caravan route, across two high passes and through the wilderness in one of Nepal’s most remote areas. The region is very poor due to its geographical formation. Dolpo region is the Nepal`s most poorest country side! The life of the people is very hard & unbelievable. In the Dolpo region, the monsoon, created by the sea winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal, is tempered by the Dhaulagiri range and trekking is therefore also possible during the summer. It is lies in the trans-himalayan region or behind the mountain ranges & the region is look -liked Tibetan arild pleatue . The majority people are Brahmin, Kshetris / Chhetri, Dalit & others. This is the region where is the least rain fall in the Summer & more rain fall in the winter. This region is very much lack of modern infrastructure (Road, Schools, Hospitals & Universities) & facilities & hence fail in the back to compare with central & Eastern parts of Nepal!
